Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School announces the hiring of Jeff Patin as the next Head Coach of its storied boys basketball program. Coach Patin brings more than 25 years of coaching, teaching, and leadership experience to Catholic Central, along with a proven track record of building championship-caliber programs rooted in discipline, accountability, and character. “We are thrilled to welcome Jeff Patin to Catholic Central,” said Athletic Director Mike Jacob. “Jeff is a program builder in every sense of the word. His ability to develop young men, establish a strong culture, and compete at a high level makes him the right leader for our basketball program. Just as importantly, he fully embraces our mission of forming the whole student - mind, body, and spirit.” Patin’s coaching résumé includes success at both the high school and collegiate levels. As head coach at Comstock Park, he led the program to its first-ever State Semifinal appearance and a school-record 24–3 season. During his time at Cedar Springs, he guided the program to a conference runner-up finish and earned his 100th career varsity victory. At the collegiate level, Patin spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Aquinas College, contributing to four consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances and multiple conference championships. Beyond the wins, Patin is widely respected for his commitment to developing student-athletes into leaders. His background in Catholic education, including serving as a Catholic school teacher and Athletic Director, aligns seamlessly with Catholic Central’s mission and values. “I am incredibly honored to join the Catholic Central community,” said Patin. “This program has a rich tradition of excellence, and I am excited to build on that foundation. I believe deeply in using basketball as a vehicle to form young men of character, faith, and purpose. His forward-thinking approach will bring a modern edge to player development, scouting, and program operations. Coach Patin begins his role immediately, with a focus on connecting with current players, alumni, and the broader Catholic Central community while preparing for the upcoming season.
